EOG — Water Hauler Loading / Unloading SOP

EOG Resources guidance — Oklahoma City Division · Revised 09.25

Pre-Job Start

  1. EOG Resources contractor training complete
  2. FR clothing (outermost layer)
  3. Safety boots
  4. Hard hat
  5. Eye protection (ANSI-Z87 w/ side shields)
  6. Gas meter (4-gas recommended)
  7. Initiate JSA
  8. SDS available in cab
  9. Understand SWA (Stop Work Authority)

Site Arrival

  1. Follow RUMA routes and obey speed limits
  2. Enter pad and secure vehicle
  3. Perform a pad walk — check for a safe work area, spills, and tank levels
  4. Check in on active/attended pads if your work is in that area or you're unsure of hazards
  5. Locate the ESD and set a cone as a backing target
  6. Position truck for safe egress and to maintain traffic flow
  7. Traffic cone deployed at the front corner of the truck
  8. Complete JSA

Loading / Unloading

  1. Truck secured with park brakes and wheel chocks
  2. Truck grounded, and an approved transfer hose in use
  3. Confirm the commodity to be transferred and that there's adequate volume to load
  4. Secondary containment available at the pump and connection point
  5. Securing device on all fluid-transfer connections
  6. Vent line in place** (see note below)
  7. Sight glasses recommended any time operating near the 3' buffer level
  8. Witches hat or screen for any work other than production tanks
  9. Maintain a safe buffer with the water/oil interface level (3')
  10. Monitor progress from outside the truck while loading
  11. Secure the site — all tank valves, load valves, and bleeder valves closed after transfer
** Vent line operations: EOG pads continue to use closed vent systems. Legacy Encino pads are not designed for closed-loop venting at this point and continue to use atmospheric vents. Use a 30 ft vent line directing flow away from possible ignition sources.

Operational Notes

  1. Fire extinguisher readily accessible
  2. Check in at any active site where work may be occurring in your work area
  3. Notify the Control Room if oil/condensate is loaded or on poor-quality loads
  4. No oil or condensate shall be transported offsite on water trucks
  5. Notify the Control Room if any product needs returned to tanks
  6. 3 points of contact when entering and exiting vehicles
  7. 360° walk-around before departing any site
  8. Notify the Control Room and Carrier Management of any spills or incidents
  9. Utilize SWA as deemed necessary
  10. Use extreme caution on SIMOPS locations — some require special direction or a change of normal procedure; if unsure, gather direction before proceeding
  11. Report identified hazards through the Good Catch program
  12. No truck maintenance on the pad without prior EOG rep approval
