Gulfport — Loading Guideline, Oil and Water

Gulfport Standard Operating Requirement SOR.E6-40 · v.2 · 05/13/2026

All oil and water haulers working on a Gulfport location are expected to follow these requirements. The goal is to transfer fluids successfully while working safely and protecting the environment.

General rules — every Gulfport location

3.2 — Loading Produced Water

  1. Park parallel or perpendicular to the production tanks. If backing is required, sound the horn and stop about 6 ft from jersey barriers or containment walls. Spotter cones are recommended.
  2. Road cone at the front of the vehicle, fire extinguisher accessible on the exterior, DOT-approved wheel chocks.
  3. Verify fluid levels in the tank via the HMI panel or a Gulfport representative so buffer levels are maintained.
  4. Drip buckets and duck ponds under hose connections and valves. Secondary retention on camlocks (pin, straps, plastic clips).
  5. Ground/bond the trailer and tools at the designated grounding points.
  6. Attach a vent hose (minimum 35 ft) to the truck vent. Put the outlet over a drip bucket or containment pan and route it crosswind or downwind of people and ignition sources.
  7. Confirm all bleeder valves are closed.
  8. Once all hoses, lines, secondary restraints, and grounding are installed and verified, engage the pump/PTO.
  9. Open the valves on the rear of the truck, checking for air leaks between the truck and the load pod / manifold.
  10. Walk to the tank using the crossover and confirm it is the tank you want to load from. Make sure all valves are closed on every other tank connected to the load line, and any side/back valves on your tank are closed and sealed.
  11. Open the tank load valve, then open the manifold / load-out pod valve slowly.
  12. Inspect all valves and connections — no leaks, no strange sounds.
  13. Watch the valves and gauges while loading; don't get distracted. Stay at the truck and out of the cab during loading unless safety requires otherwise.
  14. When loading is complete, shut valves in reverse order.
  15. Use the bleeder in the pod to clear the load line, walking the "jog" line back toward the truck. Disconnect the load line from the pod once drained, then close the bleeder valve.
  16. Cap / plug hoses before loading them on the truck.
  17. Shut off the pump.
  18. Shut the vent valve, belly valve, and vent pod valve.
  19. Load hoses, pans, equipment, and cables.
  20. Housekeeping — work area clean and free of spills.
  21. 360° walk-around — pick up cones and extinguishers, check the ground for spills or hazards.
  22. If you find spills, discoloration, or hazards, notify your supervisor and contact Gulfport immediately.
  23. Secure the location — close and lock all gates when leaving.

3.1 — Loading Oil / Condensate

  1. Park parallel or perpendicular to the production tanks. If backing, sound the horn and stop 6 ft from the jersey barrier or tank battery containment wall.
  2. Road cone, fire extinguisher, and DOT-approved wheel chocks.
  3. Drip buckets and duck ponds under hose connections and valves.
  4. Ground/bond the trailer and tools at the designated grounding points.
  5. Attach the vent hose to the truck's vent and place the end cross- or downwind of all personnel and hazards such as a flare.
  6. Confirm the bleeder valve is closed.
  7. Open the load valve, belly valve, vent valve, and fire valve.
  8. Walk to the vent pod and open the valve (if available).
  9. Walk to the tank and confirm it is the tank you want to buy. All valves closed on every other tank on the load line; side/back valves on your tank closed and sealed. Before breaking the seal, verify fluid levels on the HMI panel or with the Gulfport Operator.
  10. Turn on the PTO, then engage the pump valve to begin loading.
  11. Take the S&W sample off the gut line before beginning loadout.
  12. Repeat S&W and take an initial temperature 1/4 through the load.
  13. Collect the API gravity & temperature sample about halfway through.
  14. Repeat S&W and take a final temperature 3/4 through the load.
  15. Record the seal number on the ticket (where applicable).
  16. At the load pod, verify the bleeder valve is closed before opening the load pod valve.
  17. Inspect all valves — no leaks, no strange sounds.
  18. Raise truck RPMs appropriately for efficient oil loading.
  19. Watch the valves and gauges while loading. Stay within arm's reach of the control valves unless there is an emergency.
  20. With about 5–10 bbl left to load, lower the idle to the appropriate RPM.
  21. When loading is complete, close the load pod (sump) valve; check the gravity chart to verify barrels loaded.
  22. Walk to the tank, shut off the tank valve, and place a new seal (if required).
  23. Return to the truck and open the load pod (sump) valve.
  24. At the load pod, open the bleeder valve about halfway to clear remaining oil out of the buying line.
  25. Shut the load pod valve and walk the load hose.
  26. Shut the load valve on the truck.
  27. Shut off the pump.
  28. Shut the vent valve, belly valve, and fire valve.
  29. Shut the vent pod valve.
  30. Disconnect the load hose from the trailer, replace all caps, and stow the hose; clean the drip bucket if needed and store it in the shakeout box.
  31. Complete the run ticket.
  32. Housekeeping — clean work area, pick up tank seals.
  33. Walk to the front of the truck, collect the passenger-side cone, and check for leaks or obstacles.
  34. Pick up the rear cone and inspect the back of the truck.
  35. Walking the driver's side, verify all trailer and pod valves are closed and the vent hose is disconnected; disconnect the ground.
